Connection by Efim Svirsky

Reviewed by Yocheved Golani

Reminiscent of Mind Games, by Robert Master and several "realize your potential" titles by Jean Houston, Connection helps readers to explore their inner space in a religiously meaningful manner. Connection is a powerful tool for helping readers to open up to the Alm-ghty and to live more joyful lives for the experience. A compilation of Jewish wisdom and psychology, Svirsky's book demonstrates psychologically and religiously sound techniques for enhancing spirituality. Simply and elegantly written, it is a tool for the home as well as the yeshiva and Bait Yakov.

A 368-page hardcover, Connection comes with an MP3 disc in a back pouch. The disc, with 60 spiritual exercises, allows readers to have a listening experience by following Svirsky's mellifluous voice as he directs them to focus on their relationship with the Cr-ator.

Svirsky's work at Aish HaTorah in the past twelve years has enabled many people to grow by appreciating their relationships with HaShem. His live interaction with participants the world over have taught him not only what blocks our appreciation for the D'vine, but how to overcome those blocks. Chapters that address the Kehuna, How to Change Oneself, and Overcoming Negative Emotions will doubtlessly make this book a classic of frum psychotherapy. Rabbi Noach Weinberg's hearty haskamah on the book's back cover demonstrates the esteem in which this unusual therapist is held in the Chareidi world.

If you're wondering whether or not to read this innovative book, consider its opening words: "If God did not want us to contact Him, He would have arranged the world in such a way that we would not suspect His presence nor have the ability to find out about it." Seeing those words and feeling them in your hands will electrify you.

Available in all Jewish bookstores, Connection can be purchased for $9.00 plus shipping through the publisher. A publication of the Institute of Psycho-Spiritual Therapy, order information is available here.
